Notice on the Digitalization of Singapore Student’s Pass and Updated Part-Time Work Policies

In April 2026, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and Ministry of Manpower (MOM) of Singapore issued the latest regulations:

  1. Full digitalization of Student’s Pass
The SOLAR+ system and AI pre-assessment will be adopted, shortening the application processing time to approximately 28 days.
  2. Adjustment to part-time working hours

  • Public institutions: up to 16 hours per week during the semester, full-time work allowed during vacation
  • Private institutions: prior approval required; up to 16 hours per week during the semester
  • Under 18 years old: strictly prohibited from off-campus part-time work

  1. Strengthened supervision
Employers are required to implement facial recognition clock-in systems. Students who work overtime may have their Student’s Pass revoked.
  2. Entry requirements
Students must purchase health insurance with coverage of at least S$50,000 and hold a valid medical examination report.

Reminder: Strictly abide by working hour regulations, complete insurance and medical check-up procedures in advance to avoid affecting your visa.
