B. Overview
The Diploma in Financial Management (Mandarin) integrates modern business management skills and accounting skills to efficiently manage a business or in business development.
The course will help students develop managerial skills in confronting economic uncertainties, correlating rising costs of managing business and technology advancement, as well as preserving values in a highly competitive environment.
Upon completion of the course, students would gain further knowledge with cutting-edge skills in business-related field. This Diploma is appropriate for students who are already in a relevant role, and for those aspiring to a role where they are responsible for the detailed recording of all the financial transactions of a business, maintaining these records using double-entry bookkeeping and for ensuring that all monetary transactions made by the business are recorded accurately.
C. Objective
The objectives are to provide learners and potential business know-how for managers and aspiring business owners. The aims are to:
- Provide holistic learning in management of businesses such that graduates are able to integrate management skills for different functions effectively
- Adopt a structural and practical approach to develop expertise in managing business
- Develop a competent pool of people who understand the functional management of a enterprise
- Raise the standards of businesses in providing products and services through effective business management.

The course consists of 6 modules:

Unit 3 – Principle of Management
Unit 4 – Business Calculations

Unit 6 – Bookkeeping and Accounting
Module Outlines & Learning Outcomes
Unit 1 Marketing
This module equips students with the basic theory, knowledge, skills and techniques of marketing, combines with case study to enhance student’s ability to problem analyzing and solving.
Unit 2 Human Resource Management
This module equip students with the basic theory and method of human resource management, and know the common procedure of human resource management in companies.
Unit 3 Principle of Management
This module equips the students with the explanation of the basic theory, knowledge, skills, and techniques of management, and combines with case study to enhance student’s ability of problem analyzing and solving.
Unit 4 Business Calculations
This module is intended to give students an introduction into the various aspects of Cost Accounting that they are likely to encounter in their working lives, and introduces elements of management accounting.
Unit 5 Cost Accounting
Cost Accounting is for learners who work in, or want to work in accounting environments where they will be required to produce cost information. This module provides the key knowledge and understanding of the role of cost accounting in business; cost relating to labour, material and overheads; marginal costing; coding systems and the role of management information systems in organisations.
Unit 6 Bookkeeping and Accounting
This module is intended for students to gain a thorough foundation in bookkeeping and accounting practices, including double-entry bookkeeping.

E. Entry Requirements
Age: At least 16 years old
Academic:
Minimum 3 Passes at GCE ‘O’ Level or Completion of Secondary or High School or Equivalent.
For mature candidates, at least 21 years old with 5 years of working experience.
Language Proficiency: Minimum must Pass in Chinese at GCE ‘O’ Level or High School or equivalent.
