The Preparatory Course for Pearson LCCI Level 3 Diploma in Accounting and Finance prepares students to sit for the following qualification examinations:
1. Pearson LCCI Level 3 Certificate in Financial Accounting (VRQ)
2. Pearson LCCI Level 3 Certificate in Cost and Management Accounting (VRQ)
3. Pearson LCCI Level 3 Certificate in Advanced Business Calculations (VRQ)

C. Objective
The objectives of the course are:
- Equip students with the skills to produce financial records, summarising an organization’s financial transactions over a specific accounting period, and its current financial position in terms of assets, liabilities and capital.
- Equip students with the skills, knowledge and understanding required for short and long-term decision making, inventory control, accounting for overheads, working capital management, standard costing and preparing and controlling budgets.
- Help students build on their knowledge, understanding and ability to perform a variety of advanced calculations and apply data to solve problems associated with the financial aspects of business.

Pearson LCCI Level 3 Certificate in Financial Accounting (VRQ)
The Pearson LCCI 3 Financial Accounting (VRQ) qualification is for students who work in, or want to work in accounting environments.
The qualification provides students with the key knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and concepts underlying all financial accounting including the preparation of accounting entries for non-current assets, advanced bookkeeping, the preparation of journals for correction of errors and year-end adjustments, the preparation of the extended trial balance to incorporate these adjustments and the preparation of financial statements for unincorporated business (sole traders and partnerships)
Students will gain skills to produce financial records, summarizing an organization’s financial transactions over a specific accounting period, and its current financial position in terms of assets, liabilities and capital.
This qualification is trusted and valued by employers worldwide and recognized by universities and professional bodies. This will increase students’ employability in the sector and allow them to continue their academic development by progressing to the Pearson LCCI Level 4 Certificate in Financial Accounting (VRQ) or other professional accountancy qualifications.
Pearson LCCI Level 3 Certificate in Cost and Management Accounting (VRQ)
The Pearson LCCI Level 3 Cost and Management Accounting (VRQ) is for students who work in, or want to work in accounting environments where they will be required to use management accounting techniques which contribute to effective decision making and control.
This qualification provides the student with the skills, knowledge and understanding of cost and management accounting which reflects the keys skills required in business for short and long-term decision making, inventory control, accounting for overheads, working capital management, standard costing and the preparation and control of budgets.
This qualification is trusted and valued by employers worldwide and recognized by universities and professional bodies.
This will enhance their employ-ability prospects in the accounting sector and allow progression to the Pearson LCCI Level 4 Certificate in Management Accounting qualification.
Pearson LCCI Level 3 Certificate in Advanced Business Calculations
The Pearson LCCI Level 3 Certificate in Advanced Business Calculations helps learners build on their knowledge, understanding and ability to perform a variety of advanced calculations and apply data to solve problems associated with the financial aspects of business. It’s suitable for those working or intending to work in finance-related roles, or those wanting to develop these skills for academic progression.
A broad knowledge and understanding of advanced business calculations in relation to simple and compound interest, stock exchanges, business ownership, profitability and liquidity, investment appraisal, bankruptcy, depreciation of business assets and index numbers § The ability to apply this knowledge and understanding in a business situation § A knowledge and understanding of related terminology
After successfully completing the module, the learners will be able to:
- Calculate simple and compound interest in business situations over periods measured in days, months, or years, including the use of the appropriate formulae §
- Perform standard business calculations involving shares, debentures, stocks and unit trusts §
- Perform standard business calculations involving revenue and costs, trading and profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and including break-even analysis §
- Perform standard business calculations involving the more common ratios used to assess profitability and liquidity §
- Perform standard investment appraisal involving payback, average rate of return, internal rate of return, and net present value §
- Perform standard bankruptcy calculations involving assets and liabilities, secured and unsecured creditors, and dividends §
- Perform standard calculations of the depreciation of business assets involving the equal installment method and the diminishing balance method §
- Perform calculations of index numbers involving basic indices relative to price and to quantity, including a change in the base year §
- Use and understand appropriate mathematical and business terminology
