B.   Overview

Exerceo Business International College offers English Language courses in 4 different levels (Level 1 to Level 4) for international students who wish to acquire a good foundation in this international language.

The Certificate in English for Foreign Learners courses will enable students to build and enhance their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in English. At each level, students will be able to grasp the intended learning outcomes for the respective level from learning grammar and commonly used words to cultivate communication skills, build simple structures while developing sufficient vocabulary base through classroom lessons and tutorials. Upon completion of each level, students will be able to produce reasonable explanations and arguments on abstract thought and topics learned at that level.

C.   Objective

The aim of this course is to enable learners to:

a.    Understand he main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered  ;

b.    Deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling in an area where the language is

spoken;

c.     Produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest; and

d.     Describe experiences and events, give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

e.     Able to understand understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics ;

f.      Able to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party; and

g.     Able to produce clear , detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue

The course consist of a English module/subject delivering the following learning outcomes:

  • Learners can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc;
  • Learners can deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling in an area where the language is spoken;
  • Learners can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest;
  • Learners can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
  • Learners can understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization. .;
  • Learners can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party; and
  • Learners can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

Maximum allowable period to complete the course is 12 months from date of course commencement date

The course duration is 8 months of institutional training

Maximum allowable period to complete the course is 16 months from date of course commencement

Assessment results shall be released within 3 months upon completion of the last assessment.

  • Graduation Requirements

To ‘Pass’, learners must:

  1. Both the spoken examination and written examination must achieved 50% of total allocated marks each.
  2. Achieved at least 50 marks (spoken examination and written examination) as combined score.
  • Teacher Qualifications

The Committee for Private Education (CPE) is duly notified on all teachers in Exerceo Business International College.  All teachers have the required qualifications. Please refer to Our Teachers list in the website for more details.

Average Teacher-Student Ratio is 1:30
