B.    Overview

The Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management (Mandarin) aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge in managing the Hospitality Industry and to develop the skills and knowledge of managing the tourism business.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be awarded the Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management (Mandarin) by Exerceo Business International College (Exerceo). Successful students can continue their advancement in education through enrolling into Exerceo’s Higher Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management (Mandarin) or look forward to performing their roles as business executives in various industrial sectors

C.   Objective

The Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management aims to equip students with:

  1. The skills and knowledge in managing the Hospitality Industry. Students will develop an in depth understanding of both the front end operations and back-end processes of the hospitality business through classroom learning or e-learning.
  2. To develop the skills and knowledge of managing the tourism business. It provides students with a broad understanding of the operational aspects of tourism business through in-depth studies.

The course consists of 6 modules:

Unit 3 – Business Communication

Unit 4 – The Global Hospitality Industry

Unit 5 – Marketing in Hospitality and Tourism Industry

Unit 6 – Housekeeping Management

Module Outlines & Learning Outcomes

Unit 1 Principle of Management

This module equips the students with the explanation of the basic theory, knowledge, skills, and techniques of management, and combines with case study to enhance student’s ability of problem analyzing and solving.

Unit 2  Human Resource Management

This module equip students with the basic theory and method of human resource management, and know the common procedure of human resource management in companies.

Unit 3  Principle of Management

This module aims to promote an understanding of key concepts of business communication as it applies to today’s organizations.

Unit 4  The Global Hospitality Industry

The aim of this module is to provide students with a broad introduction into the complex world of hospitality and tourism business operations. It provides an overview of the separate functions and activities that concern managers in modern businesses.

Unit 5  Marketing in Hospitality & Tourism Industry

The aim of this module is to equip students with an understanding of the principles of marketing as they apply to the industry and offers a framework for a more effective marketing strategy approach for the industry.

Unit 6  Housekeeping Management

This module examines the key concepts of housekeeping management in the hospitality industry. Important topics in this module include the role of housekeeping, planning and organizing, managing inventories, safety and security of the lodging property.

The duration is as follows:

Full-time: 6 months

Maximum allowable period to complete the course is 12 months from date of course commencement

Part-time:  8 months

Maximum allowable period to complete the course is 16 months from date of course commencement

The Committee for Private Education (CPE) is duly notified on all teachers in Exerceo Business International College. All teachers have the required qualifications. Please refer to Our Teachers list in the website for more details.

p.     Progression Pathway

Successfully completed students may wish to further their studies through enrolling into an external university subject to meeting the minimum entry requirements set by the university.

 E.    Entry Requirements

Age: At least 16 years old

Academic:

Minimum 3 Passes at GCE ‘O’ Level or Completion of Secondary or High School or
Equivalent.

For mature candidates, at least 21 years old with 3 years of working experience.

Language Proficiency: Minimum must Pass in Chinese at GCE ‘O’ Level or High School or equivalent.
